I missed my chance!

I missed my chance!

What if instead of getting good, we just got going?

It was the night of my Senior Ball and as a teen mom, I couldn’t wait to make my comeback.

I was ready to show up and show out.

For weeks I shopped for the perfect dress.
The perfect shoes.
And finally… the perfect hair!
(yes I bought my hair like I bought my shoes haha)

I started my transformation early in the afternoon.
Everything was going as planned.. but when I went to cut my hair… it wasn’t laying right.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get it right.
Time was ticking but my irritation and determination to get it RIGHT! made me ignore the clock.

I mean who goes to the party on time anyway? 🤷🏾‍♀️
Fast forward a few hours later…

I’m at the downtown convention center.
There's a long row of tinted doors standing between me and the night of my life.

I try to open one.
Locked.

I go to the next one.

It’s locked too.

One by one I yank on the handle...
locked, locked, locked!
All of them are locked!!

I try to look inside. But I can’t see a thing.
I put my ear to the glass hoping to hear the thumping music…
But there’s nothing...just silence.

My heart beats faster and drops down into my tummy.
It’s hard to breathe.
My tears well up with the dreadful revelation…
I missed my Prom!
(Ouch, it still stings)

Over to you:

👉 What special connections are you missing out on because of over-preparation?
👉 What becomes possible if you learn to let go and ship BEFORE you think you’re ready?

🤔 What do you think?

Where do you land between the spectrum between good and going especially as it relates to putting your work out into the world?
